Introduction: The Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative (EPPCS) is a project funded under the Care in the Right Setting program. It aims to improve access to paediatric palliative care in regional, remote and very remote Queensland. The Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative is led by the Children’s Health Queensland Paediatric Palliative Care Service and the evaluation is led by Queensland University of Technology.

Aims: To evaluate the Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative project. This includes an evaluation of the telehealth outreach provided by Children’s Health Queensland and an evaluation of social mapping and community development activities conducted by Hummingbird House Children’s Hospice.

Methods:  The RE-AIM Framework is being used to evaluate the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance of the Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative project.

Families living in regional, remote and very remote areas of Queensland and receiving paediatric palliative care telehealth outreach, and health professionals involved in telehealth consultations are asked to participate in the evaluation of the telehealth outreach service provided by Children’s Health Queensland. Families are asked to complete surveys at various time points and/or a semi structured interview once only. Health professionals are asked to complete a telemedicine satisfaction survey after each consultation and also participate in a once only semi-structured interview.

Families who have participated in social mapping and/or community development activities conducted by Hummingbird House Children’s Hospice, will be asked to participate in a once only semi-structured interview.

Results: Data collection commenced December 2020 and is ongoing.

Conflict of interest: Dr Bowers is a member of the PCNA Conference Organising Committee.

Funding: This program of work and evaluation is funded by Queensland Health under the Care at the Right Setting (CaRS) program, part of the Rapid Results program.
